Do you hear that???

Or should I say….you see see that???

That’s right…the blog is back in action.

Don’t forget to stop back tomorrow for a very fun and cute post!

TaTa for now!

Bedroom Transformations

FINALLY…I can officially say I LOVE OUR BEDROOM!!!

This room in particular has had more changes than any other room in our house!

Lets take a look down memory lane shall we……

Here is a picture that I found of what the bedroom looked liked before we purchased the house.

Then we moved in and had the bright idea to paint the bedroom red with black trim….WHAT WERE WE THINKING….

Thankfully I don’t have very many pictures of this bedroom being red!

The red didn’t last very long…as you can tell. I tried to work with it but red is really not my color…and neither is black trim 🙂

As of today this is what the bedroom officially looks like…

There you have it!! I am totally in love with this room! It still needs a few things like throw pillows, art, and I still have to finish the curtains for the small window. I am also thinking about spray painting the bamboo blinds a dark rich brown.

What do you think? Should I spray paint the bamboo blinds a dark rich brown? Have you ever tried to spray paint bamboo or wood blinds? How did it turn out? Love to know!

Bed Frame Update

This is what we have been up to lately…

I am happy to announce we are finally done!!  All we have left to do is the fun stuff…decorating!

I found the plans on and simply modified it to fit our small bedroom size. This room has really come a long way. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the big reveal.  It will knock your socks off (if you wear socks in the summer!).

New Additions

Yep, that’s right…..We have some new additions to the bedroom.

I scored some killer deals yesterday for the bedroom!!  OH SO EXCITED!!

First up….these awesome bamboo blinds I found at goodwill for 5 bucks each!!  I know!!  Holy Cow!!  I can’t even begin to tell you how long I have wanted bamboo blinds in the bedroom but have never wanted to pay full price….and I finally find them for 5 bucks.

But wait there’s more!!

Now that I have new bamboo blinds it would only be appropriate to change the curtains that are currently hanging up.  So I made a quick stop at a local fabric store and found this fabric for only $4.99 a yard!!  WOO HOO!!  Of course I grabbed it and purchased 6 wonderful yards of it.

So in case you are wondering what the window treatment currently looks like in the bedroom here you go.  One of my goals for this blog is to put in a house tour page (I just haven’t gotten around to doing it yet).  I also plan to give  you a full room layout next week when I post about the completed bed frame.  But for now you will just have to settle for pictures of the window!

The small window above is a bit tricky since it’s not a full size window.

Anyone else have a mini window in their house?  What did you do to add blinds and curtains/drapes?  Did you add full length curtains as if it were a full size window or did you shorten things up a bit?  I would love to see what you did!!

Sneak Peak…Bed Frame

Don’t mind the mess….

This project is taking a little longer than we both expected (life gets in the way and the bed frame gets pushed aside).

But we are making progress and I thought I would give you a little sneak peak into what we have been working on lately.

I hope to get it completed by this weekend so hopefully I will have a full post with a tutorial come next week.

Happy Hump Day  🙂

Ha you like what I did there?! There’s a reason I am not a comedian 🙂

Anyways…you guessed it. This post is about plants. Some old…Some new.

Lets start with the plant outside. Back in June my neighbor was nice enough to give us a few plants he purchased but didn’t have any more room in his yard to plant them. Wonderful!! I gladly accepted and placed them in a ceramic container.

What I should have done was ask how much sunlight they needed. Apparently, these plants like small amounts of light and mostly shade.

Just a few hours ago this is what it looked like. All the flowers had died due to WAY too much sun….lesson learned.

Thankfully, Home Depot has many of their plants on sale. So now it is looking more like this (Rat Dog insisted on being in the picture). Much Better!

Of course when I am at Home Depot I can never leave with just the one thing I came for. While I was there I passed the pots and thought to myself The Bean could really use a new pot (he has definitely outgrown the one was in). So I grabbed a new pot for the bean.

While I was headed to the cashier I noticed these cute little hydrangeas. They are the cutest things ever!! So I grabbed one of those too (but I might go back for another :-)).

This is what it looks like now….

And just for fun I added some penguins…I think it looks great. They may stay for a while!!!

Whose taken advantage of the great plant/flower sales at Home Depot?? I will definitely be headed back at some point this week to grab a few more plants…probably some perennials!

Weekend Update

It’s HOT. I mean really HOT. And it’s really dry. It’s so HOT and dry we have barely cut the grass this past month. Yikes!

So this past Saturday we decided to face the heat and trim the bushes in the front of the yard….

And that was about all we did outside during the day 🙂

Sunday evening we took a bike ride around the neighborhood and took a few pictures. I have come to realize it is so much easier to take pictures in the early morning or late evening. It is a lot easier to figure out the settings of your camera and the natural lighting. I am still working on taking pictures in the middle of the day (I tend to have a bit too much light in the pictures).

BEWARE…the next picture is a little gross. Since it has been so hot and dry outside the small lake has started to drop in water and has started to kill the fish in the lake. Poor guys. Lets hope for rain!

What are you doing to beat the heat? Anyone else noticing water levels dropping near them?
